Absolutely outstanding book! This book is part of my treasures, next to my precious AV Bible, Foxe's Book of Martyrs and Pilgrim's Progress. This book dispels all the lies of arminianism and any notion that man has any part in his salvation. Not only is the anti-gospel "another gospel", Hendrie details the satanic roots and fruit that have followed. Every point that is made is backed up by scripture in context. This is an incredible eye opening book for those who have ears to hear.
I read this book for the first time in 2013, and read through two more times since, so I am familiar with the content. This is a straight forward refutation of the arminian free will gospel, the anti-gospel. Brother Hendrie's primary source is the Holy Bible. There are numerous other sources quoted, but I would estimate the book to be about 1/4 scripture. Unlike his critics, Hendrie quotes entire passages so you can see the actual context of the proof text. There are no isolated verses wrested to further a personal agenda. The entire purpose of this work is to prove what the true gospel is, and by turn the satanic counterfeit, all from the scripture. The Anti-Gospel succeeds in this task, and certainly hasn't been refuted on this page of reviews. Far from from it. We find the same arguments and isolated scripture that were laid to rest in this work rehashed over and over.I was raised in an Arminian home. Everything I ever heard about John Calvin or the doctrines so frequently associated with his name was negative. It would make God evil to predestinate people to heaven or hell, right? The problem was the scriptures were telling me something far different. Then one blessed day I was reading Ephesians chapter one and the scales fell from my eyes and the scripture spoke to my heart. There it was, plain as day, that God chose us before the foundation of the world according to His good pleasure. Hallelujah! My salvation was God's work from beginning to end. More prayerful Bible study confirmed this truth over and over. Man will never choose God of His own free will. There is none that seeketh after God and every desire of man's heart is only evil continually. If left to myself, I would've chosen anything but the way to eternal life. Grace, precious grace!In addition to Hendrie's reliance upon scripture, the information on Jacobus Arminius should make all stop and wonder who call themselves Arminian (I came from a Methodist, Nazarene, Holiness and Charismatic background). The man went to Rome then comes back and lies his way into a teaching position to teach his students the opposite of doctrines he vowed to uphold. He waged an unholy war against the reformation pillar of grace alone. Is this not the counter reformation of the Jesuits in action?Another strong point of this book is the strong stand for the Authorized Version of the Holy Scripture, something most of our "Calvinist" brethren long ago abandoned in favor of the corrupt bibles of Rome, yet another goal of the anti reformation. Sola Scripture has been replaced by scholarship and the opinions of men. Hendrie shows many verses altered to teach that our salvation is of man and not of Christ. Today's church doesn't want to hear of Jesuit plots and perfect scriptures. They've been turned to Rome and don't even know it! Of course this book will be attacked! The truth is never palatable to the majority. Not in Christ's day, not in ours.There are few modern authors I can stomach. It just doesn't make sense to waste time with John Piper when you could read John Owen. That being said, I find Brother Hendrie's work food for the soul and a powerful warning against the false teaching and compromising attitude so prevalent in the church today. I thank God for raising up Edward Hendrie to proclaim scriptural truth in this corrupt and evil time in which we live. My love and prayers are with you Edward. Fight the good fight!
A must read for those who are searching for the Correct truth concerning Christian salvation & the hidden dangers of the corrupted gospel of salvation.
For all who believe in the word of God and the Doctrines of Grace, I highly recommend this Book, I thought it was great and completely backed up by Scripture. Could hardly put it down.
Best revelation of truth!! We in the church have been lied to by some of the popular ministers of the gospel.
